Anxiety

Therapy for Anxiety

You often worry something bad is about to happen. Your anxious thoughts are constant and you find it hard to focus on anything else. You lose sleep because your brain won’t turn off. You're limited by the fears of “what if?”  You can’t relax. There’s a weight on your chest. A pit in your stomach. You replay past conversations in your head wondering if you said something wrong. You second guess your decisions. You worry about past mistakes.

If this sounds familiar to you, you may have anxiety.

What is Anxiety?

Anxiety can come in the form of panic attacks, obsessive thoughts, constant fears or specific phobias. Sometimes anxiety is generalized and you feel it often. Other times it can be related to a specific situation or fear like social interactions, job performance or worries about health symptoms.

Feeling nervous or worried from time to time is part of life. However, if you feel your anxiety is overwhelming and keeping you from living your best life it may be time to reach out for support. You don’t have to live this way. Therapy can help.

How can Therapy help with Anxiety?

Therapy is one of the most effective ways to reduce anxiety. In therapy you will learn specific coping skills to calm your nervous system and manage your fears. We will identify the thought patterns that are contributing to your worries. You will learn how to look at situations in new ways that are less stressful to your wellbeing. We will also explore your life experiences and the systems you grew up within in order to uncover any underlying causes of your worries and fears.
